Big Billion Days 2025: No Official Flipkart or Amazon GMV Yet; Early Estimates Point to ₹90,000–95,000 Crore Festive Sales

As of Today 25th September 2025, Two days into India’s biggest online shopping season Flipkart’s Big Billion Days (BBD) and Amazon’s Great Indian Festival (GIF) shoppers and sellers are eagerly tracking numbers. However, neither Flipkart nor Amazon has disclosed official gross merchandise value (GMV) so far.

Industry trackers say the headline figures will likely be released only after the sale ends, or even later in October, once returns and cancellations are reconciled.

No Company Numbers Yet

Flipkart’s BBD 2025 opened at midnight on 23 September. Amazon’s GIF followed soon after. Both companies typically publish audited sales numbers 48–96 hours after the close of the event.

“Any figures circulating at this stage are, at best, projections or leaks. Neither platform has made a SEBI-mandated disclosure yet,” a senior industry analyst told ET Digital.

What Analysts Project

According to Redseer Strategy Consultants and Bain & Company’s pre-festive report (quoted by WareIQ), the 2025 festive season (30–35 days, all platforms combined) is expected to clock ₹90,000–95,000 crore in GMV, up from about ₹76,000 crore in 2024.

  • Flipkart group (Flipkart, Myntra, Shopsy): ≈55% share, or about ₹49,000–52,000 crore.
  • Amazon India: ≈32% share, or about ₹29,000–30,000 crore.
  • Others (Meesho, Nykaa, Tata Digital, quick-commerce): ≈13%.

Quick-commerce alone led by Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart—is projected to notch ₹11,000–12,000 crore this season.

State and Regional Split

No platform discloses state-level GMV, but Redseer’s 2024 festive note provides a proxy:

  • Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi-NCR, Telangana and Gujarat together accounted for nearly 48% of festive sales last year.
  • Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Rajasthan contributed another 28%.
  • The rest of India made up 24%.

Early 2025 trend trackers suggest the same rank order continues.

Rumored Day-1 Numbers

Social media posts claiming “Flipkart hit ₹8,400 crore in 24 hours” or “Amazon crossed ₹6,000 crore” remain unverified.

“Until you see either a disclosure from Walmart/Amazon, or a post-event report from Redseer or BCG, treat these numbers as speculation,” analysts caution.

Category Performance: Some Data Out

While total GMV is still unofficial, category-level updates have trickled in:

  • Mobiles and accessories continue to dominate, contributing >45% of GMV.
  • Myntra and Shopsy reported 30% year-on-year growth in fashion and home categories during the first two days (Flipkart press note, 24 Sep).
  • The iPhone 16 Pro (₹69,999) went out of stock in just 4 hours 12 minutes, restocked thrice already.
  • Large appliances saw an 18% drop in ASP, but unit sales surged 26% YoY (brand-side data leaked to ET).

Bottom Line

As of 25 September, total sales figures remain unofficial. Verified disclosures are expected only by mid-October, once the first leg of festive sales concludes.

Early projections point to a 20–25% year-on-year jump, with Flipkart holding a majority share. But for now, both platforms are focused on high-demand categories like smartphones, fashion, and large appliances.
